Two good old quotes on public speaking

On the back of his business card, Vancouver-based freelance speechwriter Colin Moorhouse has an appropriate quote from Lord Birkett: “I do not object to people looking at their watches when I am speaking. But I do strongly object when they start shaking them to make sure they are still going.”
(And Moorhouse reminds us of another Birkett-ism: “Most impromptu speeches are not worth the paper they are written on.”)
