I can’t ever remember seeing a CEO respond to a speech this quickly or affirmatively as Ken Lewis of Bank of America did to President Obama’s speech today:
Lewis said “the actions taken by the federal government, in the previous and current administrations, effectively stabilized our financial system” after last year’s near-financial collapse.
“President Obama called for reforms to our regulatory system …. We support the President’s efforts to ensure adequate vigilance on systemic risk and enhanced simplicity and transparency in financial services products, while maintaining the innovation and efficiency that enable our financial system to drive economic growth in the U.S. and around the world.”
Have I not been paying attention, or is this statement a first of its kind?
