PunditWire peters out

The blog PunditWire ceased publishing new work this week, after seven years of offering political speechwriters a platform to express ideas under their own byline.

Why?

Cofounder Leonard Steinhorn, professor of communication at American University, tells us the volume of contributions has dwindled. 

“When we started there really wasn't a platform for speechwriters to comment on the news; but now there are plenty of commentary sites that will welcome content like ours,” Steinhorn said in an email. “It's a bit heartbreaking to bid PW adieu, but knowing that our work has other platforms—like yours—is what makes it a little less sad.” —DM
