“Police said his temper had upset him”

Speechwriters should treat themselves to some research/lollygagging at “Bad News From the Past,” the blog full of oddball newspaper stories that can give speeches color.

Like the 1931 Detroit News story about Joseph Chotosh, who “drove his automobile out of the garage and stuck it in the mud. Chotosh, his mother and his sister could not budge the car. Chotosh then drew a revolver and killed himself.”

The report added: “Police said his temper had upset him.”
