Just one false note

Pete Buttigieg's lesson: Authenticity isn't not having a speechwriter. It's acknowledging you do. (Or at least not bragging that you don't.)

After South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg dellivered the best presidential-candidate announcement speech of the season, his husband claimed he had written it that morning—after feeding the dogs and going to church.

Meanwhile, the sitting Deputy Prime Minister of The Netherlands publicly congratulated his "unsurpassed speech writer" for winning a Cicero Speechwritng Award.

There's no shame in having a speechwriter.

And there's no glory in boasting that you don't.
