Aussie pol publicly flirts with bringing in famous satirist. Satirist publicly jilts him.
And finally, an Australian politician flirted publicly last month with a satirist whom he wanted as a speechwriter. But Treasurer Joe Hockey seems to have been publicly jilted by writer David Hunt, who tweeted: “I met with @JoeHockey. We had a coffee and a chat. I liked him. I also liked the coffee. I am not his speechwriter, or indeed anyone else’s.”
Wouldn’t it be nice to say a thing like that, just once? —DM
