A light opening for a heavy speech

A broadly useful speech opening (as long as we donโ€™t overdo it) comes from a Dec. 1 speech by Conference Board senior fellow Ronald Berenbeim:

It is both a pleasure and an honor to speak on at the IAE Business Schoolโ€™s Conference on Corporate Governance and Transparency. When Matthias Kleinhempel invited me address the subject of Corporate Governance in Emerging Markets, I recalled Gandhiโ€™s response when asked what he thought of Western Civilization. By all means, he said, โ€œit would be a good idea.โ€ So too, with corporate governanceโ€”it would be a good idea; if we had a clear sense of what it is.
