White House Speechwriting Team: Favreau leaves, Keenan replaces him

Itโ€™s official: Jon Favreau, who has worked for President Obama since he was Senator Obama, is leaving the White House March 1. He may pursue a career in screenwriting, the Los Angeles Times reports.ย

Favreau, Obama said in a statement, โ€œhas become a friend and a collaborator on virtually every major speech I’ve given in the Senate, on the campaign trail and in the White House.โ€

ย 

Favreau will be replaced as chief speechwriter by Cody Keenan, part of Favreauโ€™s original White House writing team. Keenan is taking the lead on the State of the Union Address, according to the L.A. Times.
