Wanted: Someone who can make an interesting video of a speech
June 07, 2011
This week’s Vital Speech of the Week is just a kid babbling a bunch of nonsense he’s heard from the soft-headed grownups in his life about how you can do anything you put your mind to. But watch it. The moment you begin saying, “I get it, kid,” the music swells and you keep watching despite yourself.
Now feel your head. Soft, right? That’s because of the music!
And look what the combination of music and images did for a speech by the most boring politician in the Republican field.
Executive communicators and speechwriters ought to seek people who can work similar miracles with their speakers, so their speeches can leap out of the banquet hall and survive on YouTube.
(And if you do, send the videoโand the videographerโour way.) โDM
