Speechwriters Wanted

Facebook and Whole Foods lead a small pack of organizations in need of leadership communication help.

Facebook is looking for a speechwriter/presentation storyteller who is “passionate about creative writing, marketing, online advertising strategy, conceptual storytelling, analytics, and driving measurable results at a large scale. As an expert with at synthesizing high-level marketing strategy into clear, simple, compelling—and sometimes even entertaining—concepts, you will strategize, create, optimize, and scale global marketing campaigns to drive awareness and adoption of Facebook’s best products and features for businesses. Your creative storytelling will be applied to Powerpoint and Keynote presentations (so knowledge and competency using these tools are a must) and many other forms of digital media. This position will be based in Menlo Park, Calif.”

Whole Foods Market, located in Austin, Tex., is seeking a senior speechwriter, who will be responsible “for the development and execution of global communication strategies that will support Whole Foods’ mission and values and engage team members.”

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a speechwriter and counsel to the president to “write speeches, remarks, testimony and commentaries and provide counsel to the President of The University of Texas at Austin. Serve on a presidential communications team that supports his communications with students, faculty members, alumni, officeholders and thought leaders in the state and nation.”

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in Chicago seeks a director of executive communications to be “responsible for speechwriting and other written and oral communications in support of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) senior executives for key internal and external audiences.”

The Israeli Mission to the United Nations is looking for a speechwriter to “join a team of dedicated professionals standing up for Israel at the United Nations. The Speechwriter will work closely with the professional staff to draft speeches for Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, as well as other representatives of the Israeli Mission. This will include preparing speeches and talking points for public appearances and community events. They are looking for applicants with professional writing experience. The New York State Executive Chamber is seeking a speechwriter. “This person must be able to absorb detailed government policy and then communicate that policy to a general audience in clear, accessible and, where appropriate, emotionally expressive language. They will be responsible for crafting speeches, talking points, scripts, event remarks, and other related materials. Qualified candidates will have at least five years of professional experience, including published work.”
