Outsider comes inside

By David Murray, Editor, Vital Speeches of the Day

An outsider just went inside, and his new boss appreciates the sacrifice. Being a news reporter is โ€œall Iโ€™ve ever wanted to do,โ€ said Boston.com politics editor Glen Johnson, who after 27 years in journalism just joined new Secretary of State John Kerry to handle strategic communications.

โ€œI know it was not an easy decision for him to turn a page after thirty years of journalism for a chapter in public service,โ€ Kerry said, โ€œbut he does so for the same reasons he became a journalist in the first place. Heโ€™s not a partisan. He just cares about the quality of our dialogue and he cares about our country and heโ€™ll contribute to both of them. Iโ€™ll be lucky to have him at my side in this endeavor.โ€

Godspeed, Glen Johnson.
