How to disarm a tense situation with a client

D.C.-based speechwriter Juli Branson went all LBJ on a client who seemed hesitant to give her feedback on a speech.
“Don’t hold back,” she said. “As my grandpa used to say, ‘You’re payin’ me cash money and I ain’t givin’ it back.’”
The client pointed to the speech and replied, “I want more stuff like that in here.”
