Governor’s speechwriting office goes paperless

Paperless speechwriting: They do it in the office of Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, according to Governing magazine. Chief speechwriter Steve Rabin and his team have been using only an iPad for eight months, for everything.

Whereas they once went through “reams of paper” while running speeches through many rounds of edits, “Now I use a the stylus and do everything electronically,” Rabin says. “This becomes not only a dollar saver, but I like to think it’s a resource saver.”

Rabin has amazed himself: “When something has been a habit for your entire professional life and academic life, and you break it within five months, I would say that’s a pretty big surprise.”
