Journalist wants to bust into speechwriting
August 21, 2014
Do you have a gig for the guy? Or some advice?
When you're the editor of Vital Speeches of the Day, your world is largely made up of two kinds of people: those who want to break into the speechwriting business, and those who want to break out.
I've been corresponding with a guy who wants to break in. Howard Morgan writes:
I've developed as a writer through nearly 20 cumulative years of experience in PR and journalism. Along the way, I've contributed stories as a freelancer for ABC News, Washington; The Daily Telegraph of London; and AP Broadcast among other media outlets. I'm looking to parlay my broadcast news experience into a speechwriting gig—preferably based in Washington, DC; Boston; or the New York metropolitan area. Please feel free to contact me at 718-736-3541 or email me at [email protected] to explore freelance and full-time opportunities.
If you don't have a gig for Mr. Morgan, maybe you have advice for him, and for others with communication experience, who want to break into speechwriting. Send him advice, and cc me: [email protected]. —DM
