Congresswoman gives 400th anti war speech

Tell ’em, and then tell ’em what you told ’em—399 times.

That’s what California Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey did, giving her 400th anti-war speech, according to the Santa Rosa, Calif. Press Democrat. Delivered every day Congress has been in session, starting in spring of 2004, a year after the Coalition invasion of Iraq.

“And so since that day,” she said in the 400th speech, given Tuesday, “I’ve stood here in this spot to say over and over again that these wars are eroding our spiritual core; bankrupting us morally and fiscally; teaching our children that warfare is ‘the new normal.'”

Though she will retire next year, she plans to give “as many of these speeches as I can” during her remaining time in office.
