Congresswoman gives 400th anti war speech

Tell โ€™em, and then tell โ€™em what you told โ€™emโ€”399 times.

Thatโ€™s what California Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey did, giving her 400th anti-war speech, according to the Santa Rosa, Calif. Press Democrat. Delivered every day Congress has been in session, starting in spring of 2004, a year after the Coalition invasion of Iraq.

“And so since that day,” she said in the 400th speech, given Tuesday, “Iโ€™ve stood here in this spot to say over and over again that these wars are eroding our spiritual core; bankrupting us morally and fiscally; teaching our children that warfare is ‘the new normal.'”

Though she will retire next year, she plans to give “as many of these speeches as I can” during her remaining time in office.
