As emcee of the Speechwriters and Executive Communicators Conference, I announced the 2013 Cicero Speechwriting Awards winners, and had the extreme pleasure of reading an excerpt from the winner of the Grand Award, with speechwriter Sarah Gray in attendance. The two hundred speechwriters in attendance burst into loud and long applause for Gray, and for a moment speechwriters were not behind the scenes, but rather front and center.
