A light opening for a heavy speech
January 04, 2012
A broadly useful speech opening (as long as we donโt overdo it) comes from a Dec. 1 speech by Conference Board senior fellow Ronald Berenbeim:
It is both a pleasure and an honor to speak on at the IAE Business Schoolโs Conference on Corporate Governance and Transparency. When Matthias Kleinhempel invited me address the subject of Corporate Governance in Emerging Markets, I recalled Gandhiโs response when asked what he thought of Western Civilization. By all means, he said, โit would be a good idea.โ So too, with corporate governanceโit would be a good idea; if we had a clear sense of what it is.
