Zig Ziglar is dead, and I’m surprised at how blue I feel

“Yesterday ended last night. Today is a brand new day. And it’s yours.” —Zig Ziglar

I used to joke about creating a catalog of wisdom, From Aristotle to Zig Ziglar.

Ziglar, cornball as he was, knew some stuff.

For instance, he knew how to sell his own stuff. “People often say motivation doesn’t last,” he said. “Neither does bathing—that’s why we recommend it daily.”

And he knew how to sell your stuff. “People don’t buy for logical reasons,” he said. “They buy for emotional reasons.”

And he knew how to sell hope. And as Steve Goodman wrote and John Prine sang, “That’s not an easy thing to do.” —DM
