India may move to require speeches to be delivered in Hindi

Speeches by central and state government ministers in India will be delivered in Hindi by law, if a proposal passes there, according to the Times of India. India president Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the recommendations of a parliamentary panel that’s out to promote Hindi over many other Indian languages, such as Bengali, Telugu and Marathi. "All dignitaries including Hon'ble President and all the ministers especially who can read and speak Hindi may be requested to give their speech/statement in Hindi only,” the recommendation reads.
