CEO reads draft as written; personality shines through

For a speechwriter, a victory. A happy speechwriter sent me an email last week: “I gave my boss a speech to be delivered to a women’s group in Louisiana this week. It included the phrases ‘Playboy playmates,’ ‘beauty pageants’ and ‘hell-raiser’ in the opening … and he delivered it like a champ. Most would have bucked up and toned it down … but it went over great and allowed some personality to shine through.”

He added, “If all speakers were this trusting of their writers.”

His pen to God's ears. —DM
